We primarily focus on YA and literary fiction, but we will consider other works of outstanding quality.  We ONLY accept queries via email.  Please submit your QUERY to stans@soperagency.com  and include the word QUERY in the subject line, plus the title of your work. We may forward your work to another agency if we feel the other agency is a better match. If we are interested, we will contact you and give you specific instructions about how to send your material. You may submit to other agencies at the same time, but please let us know that yours is a multiple submission. Please include a phone number as well as your email address.

Include the following in your query (but no attachments)

• For Fiction—query letter and first 10 pages
• For Non-fiction—query letter, proposal, and sample chapter

Response Time

We will let you know if we are interested in seeing your manuscript within 2 weeks! If you haven’t heard back within that time frame, please assume that we are not interested.

Recommendations

• Make sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors in your query.
• Always be professional and courteous.
• No attachments.

A Word of Advice

As you know, finding an agent or publisher is tough! Especially for new authors. We hate to say no. We would rather say yes to everyone. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the merit of your work or your abilities – its just that for some reason your work did not catch our attention.

Don’t give up. Just because we don’t take your work on today doesn’t mean we will reject your work tomorrow. Another agent might say yes. This might be because we made a mistake, or it might be because we simply have different tastes.

Never stop writing and never stop trying to improve your writing.
